Rodriguez and Yankees Trump Sox, 7-3

The Yankees broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the sixth, making a winner of rookie Tyler Clippard, who is 3-and-1. He pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits.

The White Sox loaded the bases against Brian Bruney with one out in the ninth. But Mariano Rivera came in and got Jermaine Dye to fly out to center, then got A.J. Pierzynski to ground out for his sixth save in eight chances.

New York banged out a season-high 17 hits off Mark Buehrle and three relievers. Buehrle is 2-and-3.
