Cubs Fall in Fourteen

Chicago tied the game at three with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Their first run came in the first inning after the Padres scored twice in the top of the frame. The Padres third run was scored in the second.

Greg Maddux went the first five innings for the Padres, allowing three runs and six hits.

Cubs' starter Wade Miller also lasted the first five innings and allowed three runs as well on six hits.
