It appeared the ball hit the left-handed Buehrle somewhere on his pitching arm.
The ball ricocheted to the third base line where Buehrle went and picked it up. He didn't make a throw.
Moments later, without even throwing a warm-up pitch, Buehrle left the field and went to the dugout and then to the clubhouse.
Nick Masset came in to replace Buehrle, who went one-and-a-third innings.
