Bears Bolster Coaching Staff

The N-F-C champions scored 38 offensive touchdowns last year -- the second season of Turner's second tenure as offensive coordinator. And the passing game improved from 31st in the league in 2005 to 14th, with quarterback Rex Grossman healthy.

Babich, who spent three seasons as linebackers coach, was promoted last month after the Bears let Ron Rivera go. Over three years, the Bears have led the league in total defensive takeaways, third-down defense and opponent quarterback rating while ranking second in defensive touchdowns.

Also receiving new contracts were tight ends coach Rob Boras, wide receivers coach Darryl Drake and offensive line coach Harry Hiestand.
