Alumni from Freeport and Aquin High Schools played in the Crosstown Classic game Sunday to benefit Jayden Pierce.

40 Years of Freeport basketball alumnus took the floor including officials Mayor George Gaulrapp (Aquin '77), Judge Mike Bald (Aquin '74) and Highland CC Coach Pete Norman (Freeport '78).

--From the program:
Jayden Pierce is a 5-year old identical twin diagnosed at the age of 3 (almost 4) in August 2007 with an Ependymoma. The tumor was removed successfully with a few post-op complications. He has just made 1 year post-treatment without reoccurence and now will be shifting from MRI's every 3 months to MRI's every 4 months. The initial surgery and 33 chemo treatments have caused some paralysis in his throat. This makes it very difficult to cough and clear his throat. It also makes it very hard to swallow breathe, and talk. All of his nutrition comes through a feeding tube. He is getting better every day, but is constantly faced with new challenges.

Jayden's parents are Ryan (Freeport's head girls basketball coach) and Angela Pierce and his twin brother is Bayley. To read Jayden's complete story, track his progress of make a donation, go to www.caringbridge.org and search for 'jaydenpierce'.
