23-SPORTS TICKET TOP TEN

1. Boylan (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Belvidere 49-9
Next Game: vs. Auburn
Opponents’ Record: 12-24
Points For/Against: 277-48

The Titans pick up another one-sided win. They have Auburn at home next week before closing the season with Hononegah (4-1) and Harlem (6-0).

2. Dakota (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Warren/RR 46-13
Next Game: at Orangeville
Opponents’ Record: 14-22
Points For/Against: 228-73

The AP #2 (1A) Indians continue to roll. They squashed Warren/River Ridge last week. They have a tough test at Orangeville coming up.

3. Harlem (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Guilford 24-14
Next Game: at Freeport
Opponents’ Record: 12-24
Points For/Against: 219-82

The AP #10 (7A) Huskies squeaked by Guilford to clinch a playoff spot last week. If you like offense, a lot of offense, Freeport/Harlem is your game this Friday.

4. Stillman Valley (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Byron 56-15
Next Game: at Winnebago
Opponents’ Record: 11-25
Points For/Against: 271-73

Surprisingly, Stillman Valley is the second-highest scoring team in the Top Ten, just 6 points behind Boylan. A closer look shows that their opponents have the least amount of wins of any team in the Top Ten which means they are soundly beating teams that they should be soundly beating.

5. Milledgeville (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Galena 22-16
Next Game: at Ashton-Franklin Center
Opponents’ Record: 15-21
Points For/Against: 204-82

The Missiles might be the top team in 1A when AP Polls are released Tuesday. They jump up in our Top Ten after beating Galena, the defending 1A champions.

6. Hononegah (5-1)
Last Game: Beat Freeport 27-21
Next Game: at East
Opponents’ Record: 14-22
Points For/Against: 214-98

Hononegah used a clutch defensive play at the end of a hard fought game with Freeport to become playoff eligible. The Indians can’t overlook East, but in two weeks, it’s the always fun Hononegah/Boylan game.

7. Oregon (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Winnebago 49-11
Next Game: at Genoa-Kingston
Opponents’ Record: 12-24
Points For/Against: 199-59

8. Genoa-Kingston (6-0)
Last Game: Beat Lutheran 42-13
Next Game: vs. Oregon
Opponents’ Record: 13-23
Points For/Against: 225-67

9. Galena (5-1)
Last Game: Lost to Milledgeville 22-16
Next Game: vs. Durand
Opponents’ Record: 21-15
Points For/Against: 198-68

Last weeks AP #1 (1A) will drop after a loss to 3rd ranked Milledgeville. However, the Pirates lost by just 6 and are the only team in the 23-Sports Ticket Top Ten whose opponents have a winning record.

10. Lena-Winslow (5-1)
Last Game: Beat South Beloit 42-0
Next Game: vs. Eastland/Pearl City
Opponents’ Record: 15-21
Points For/Against: 223-63

The Panthers looked dominant against South Beloit and can clinch a playoff spot next weekend at home against E/PC.
