2013-14 High School Season in Review

The championships started right away in the fall season. Lena-Winlsow and Stillman Valley each took home titles on the gridiron...The Panthers seniors celebrated for the second time in their four years while the Cardinals added their fifth title to Mike Lalor's trophy case...

How good was stateline football this year? Well the champion Cardinals didn't win their division...The BNC West went to Winnebago for the first time in 24 years. In the NIC 10 Boylan went undefeated again, discovering a star in the process. Demry Croft took over at QB midway through the season. He has picked up 7 division one scholarship offers already.

Speaking of Boylan's fall, the titans golf team won state with Danny Gorman leading the way. Stockton's Trey Timpe also winning a solo title.

Keith put the cherry on top in the fall by taking back to back championships when Adeja Lambert put away this kill.

Fast forward to the winter, Guilford's team of seniors bowled their way to a gold medal. Dakota wrestling followed it with their second in a row as Josh Alber capped a perfect career with his fourth individual championship and a 182-0 record.

After back to back Aquin girls basketball titles the area was shut out on the hardwood, but still plenty to remember. Auburn beat Boylan in a winner take all battle for the NIC 10...The lady Titans ended Hononegah's conference winning streak while making the elite eight. Byron was a controversial call away from a late run and Lutheran rallied around Ryan Dolan to make it to state.

That brings us to the spring where we just saw boys volleyball start to emerge, Haley Kittle lead Rockford Christian to state and Byron's baseball team become one of the best teams in the area's history by finishing second in Illinois.

These are just some of the great achievements in local sports this year. There are too many victories, too many college signings, too many memories to go through them all. Simply put the 2013-14 season was one for the record books, and as we close that book, I can't wait to see what's next...
