Jim Edmonds had a hit in his first game with the Chicago Cubs.
Edmonds went one-for-four in a Cubs' 4-0 victory today against his former team, the San Diego Padres.
The 37-year-old insists he's healthy and can perform at a high level. And the Chicago Cubs are giving him a chance to prove it.
Edmonds says he's still got a lot left. And he says his body's in good shape.
Six days after being released by San Diego, Edmonds started in center field and batted sixth against the Padres.
The eight-time Gold Glove and four-time All-Star strained his right calf in a spring training game and started the season on the disabled list.
He was activated on April 5th and batted .178 in 26 games with one homer and six RBIs.
