LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith says he's disappointed to hear of running back Cedric Benson's arrest.
Benson is charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest after he was pulled over for a random safety inspection last night on Lake Travis near Austin, Texas.
Smith says he's still gathering information and hasn't spoken to Benson yet.
The coach spoke to reporters in Lake Forest at Halas Hall directly after the conclusion of the Bears' three-day rookie minicamp.
Smith says he expects his players to stay out of trouble. He says he's disappointed whenever the Bears are placed in a negative light.
