Former major leaguer Dario Lodigiani, a longtime scout for the Chicago White Sox, has died. He was 91.
The team says Lodigiani died Sunday night at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California.
He served as a part-time scout for the White Sox in Northern California until his death and received a 2005 World Series ring from the team.
Among players he discovered and/or signed were former Cy Young Award winner Jack McDowell and current White Sox general manager Ken Williams.
Lodigiani played six seasons in the majors with the Philadelphia As and the White Sox.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound infielder hit .260 with 16 home runs and 156 RBI in 405 major-league games. He began scouting for the White Sox in 1954.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday in Napa Valley.
