National signing day for college football is a little less than a month away, but Boylan kicker Derek Dimke has already made his decision.

The owner of the record for longest field goal in state playoff history will be booming kick-offs and splitting uprights for The University of Illinois.

Derek made the decision today to join Ron Zook and the Fighting Illini on a full football scholarship. With Illinois improving at the rate that they are, Dimke is looking forward to the chance to kick for a championship contender.

Derek Dimke:

"It's a Big Ten School, it's a great program. That's one of the things I was looking for in a school. They got a real strong football program, it's also a strong academic school. And it's close to home to my parents. So, those are all some main reasons why.

It's a relief to know where I'm going but now I have the pressure to keep working hard and be prepared in the next 5 months to kick at the college level."
