Northwestern forward Kevin Coble announced today he's leaving the basketball team indefinitely to spend time with his mother as she's treated for breast cancer.

Coble has been spending time with his mother in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.

The sophomore will remain enrolled at Northwestern and said he'll return to the team when he feels it's appropriate.

The 6-foot-8 forward was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team last season and was the first freshman in school history to lead the team in scoring (13.4) and rebounding (5.2).
