Winter Strikes the Stateline
Wet snow falls across Illinois making travel dangerous.

|
The first winter storm of the season slammed into the Stateline Sunday afternoon. The snow will continue until Monday morning. Total snow accumulations will range anywhere from 3 to 8 inches although most locations should see about 4.
Strong winds up to 30 mph will strike on Sunday night carrying cold wintry air with them. Drifting snow could be a problem for morning commuters. For this reason the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for every county in the Stateline.
On Monday night skies will clear and temperatures will drop well into the teens. This cold air will make for dangerous conditions outside. Be sure to wear plenty of layers when venturing out on Tuesday morning. Temperatures will stay cold all week with highs only in the 20s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
| FAMILY DISASTER PLAN Families should be prepared for all hazards that could affect their area. NOAA’s National Weather Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the American Red Cross urge every family to develop a family disaster plan. Where will your family be when disaster strikes? They could be anywhere at work, at school, or in the car. How will you find each other? Will you know if your children are safe? Disaster may force you to evacuate your neighborhood or confine you to your home. What would you do if basic services water, gas, electricity, or telephones were cut off? Follow these basic steps to develop a family disaster plan...
