MT. MORRIS (WIFR) -- Pinecrest Community is sponsoring a week of events called Pumpkin Palooza to celebrate Halloween and raise money for a great cause. Events kick off with a 5K run /1 mile walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 from the Pinecrest Grove Community Center, 500 Evergreen Lane. All are invited to participate and runners may wear safe and family-friendly costumes, which will be judged for prizes. Entry fees are $25/individual, $35/couples or $15 for children under 18 and seniors over 55.
Participants who run in the event will receive a pumpkin which they may carve and return to Pinecrest for consideration in our free Pumpkin Palooza Carving Contest! The carving contest is open to the public - those who want to participate do not need to run or walk, but must provide their own pumpkin. Winning jack-o-lanterns will be on display at Pinecrest through Halloween.
Judging of the jack-o-lanterns will take place at the Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Please check their Facebook, Twitter, and/or Web site feeds at www.pinecrestcommunity.com for more information and signup forms, or call Amy at 815-734-4103.
Proceeds benefit Pinecrest’s Good Samaritan fund.
