CHICAGO (AP) -- About 3,600 people attended tonight in Chicago as athletes were inducted into the U.S. Olympic Committee's Hall of Fame.
The ceremony was the final blowout fundraiser for Chicago's bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro are the finalists, and the International Olympic Committee will meet in Copenhagen on Oct. 2 to decide which city gets the nod.
The spotlight on the event was dimmed a bit because basketball great Michael Jordan, didn't attend, even though the 1992 gold-medal Olympic basketball Dream Team he played on was inducted.
But local organizers are counting more on another big name from Chicago.
President Barack Obama could be the one who helps seals the deal. Obama has a home in Chicago just a few blocks from the park where the proposed Olympic Stadium would be built.
