In honor of autism awareness month, local students raise funds for a therapeutic school in Rockford.

The Northwest District Student Council handed over a $4,400 donation to the Easter Seals Autism School today.

The council is made up of high school students from around the area, they held fundraising events including a letter writing campaign to bring in funds for the school.

Autism is a brain development disorder that impairs social interaction, communication, and causes restricted and repetitive behavior.
