ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- 34th State Senate Candidate Dan Lewandowski's campaign receives a major boost today.

Members of the Illinois chapter of the AFL-CIO are endorsing the Democratic candidate. Lewandowski says he is proud to have the support of the nearly 900,000 union members because he believes they represent the backbone of working class Americans and the Democratic party.

"And the fact that the Illinois AFL-CIO and the working men and women of this community understood that and have endorsed men unanimously shows that they are behind this campaign 100% and with that backing we are going to go forward, were going to work hard and make a difference and were going to show that we are the true democratic in this race, working hard for the men and women in this community, that's why its so meaningful," Lewandowski said.

Other Democratic candidates running in the 34th State Senate District include Marla Wilson and Steve Stadelman.
