(AP) -- The latest name is Susan Garrett, a state senator from the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest.
Garrett has spoken to Gov. Pat Quinn about applying. But she said Friday that Quinn did not make any promises.
A person familiar with the selection process confirms Quinn is considering Garrett, among others.
At least 200 people are applying. The position was left open when original nominee Scott Lee Cohen withdrew.
The Democratic Central Committee will hear from the applicants Saturday and make a choice next week.
