A Chicago Tribune poll finds nearly half of Illinois voters hold a favorable opinion of Gov. Pat Quinn. But almost as many say they have no opinion or have never heard of him.

The Tribune's report Wednesday says about 49 percent of voters view Quinn favorably. Six percent say their opinion of him is unfavorable. And 46 percent hold no opinion or have never heard of Quinn.

The telephone survey of 500 registered voters was conducted Feb. 4 and 5, barely a week after Quinn became governor. Its margin of error is 4.4 percentage points.

The survey also finds U.S. Sen. Roland Burris rates lower with voters than Quinn. The new senator's favorable rating was 34 percent. Eighteen percent have a negative feeling about him, and 48 percent had no opinion or have never heard of Burris.
