Loves Park Police Looking for Suspects Responsible for 9 Burglaries This Week
The Loves Park Police Department is telling residents to be on the look out because of a recent increase in residential burglaries.

LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- The Loves Park Police Department is telling residents to be on the look out because of a recent increase in residential burglaries.
Resident Jan Paulsen said, "I'm very upset. Very, very upset because it's close to home."
It’s just across the street from her actually. Tuesday night, a couple was asleep in their beds in a condo at Preservation Point off Windsor Road in Loves Park when someone snuck into their home.
Police Tips
Police say you should shovel even if there's only a little bit of snow like we had earlier this week.
They are looking for tire tracks and footprints.
Also make sure you bring in your mail and don't leave your garbage cans in the street. That makes it look like you aren't home.
Keep a light on when you go to sleep and if you have a sliding glass door in your home. Put a piece of wood behind it.
Police are asking residents to be "vigilant" and report suspicious activity to the police.
They're also recommending that knowing your neighbors and paying attention to anything out of the ordinary will help them, solve the crimes.

Loves Park Police Detective Sergeant Curt Wilson said, "When it gets close to you, it really, really affects you. These guys break into enough houses over enough time you're destined to break into some houses where people are going to be home and sleeping."
It's not typical--police say since Monday there have been about nine residential burglaries in Loves Park West of I-90. They occur at all times of the day and generally people aren't home.
Wilson said, "Generally it's not just one of those crimes where they drive down the street and think oh well this would be a good place to hit. They are looking for people who appear that they're not home."
Police say the burglars are casing newer homes in subdivisions.
Wilson said, “You can be pretty much assured that they've done their homework.
Police aren't giving out a lot of information because they want to catch the burglars. Loves Park is working with the Rockford Police and the Sheriff's Department; they have got everyone working this case. We were out for just a few hours today and there were officers everywhere.

The longer this economy continues, the more you will see home invasions. My suggestion is to get a monitored security system, it is the only thing that works. In my neighborhood, my neighbors house was broken into and the burglars beat their dog to death with a lead pipe because it was barking!! It wasn't a little dog either, it was quite a ferocious dog! I can only imagine what they would have done if someone had been home--like a sick teenager!!

Can you get more specific? This report is so vague it would be like saying "some foods are bad for your health". So?!!! What neighborhoods? I got as much info off of Rockford Scanner's website. Sounds like your reporter did the same thing instead of going to the LPkPD and digging a litter deeper like asking for details.
