JANESVILLE (WIFR) -- Fewer safety concerns for those using the Southern Wisconsin Airport near Janesville.
The U.S. Department of Transportation decided that the airport's control tower will stay open. One-hundred-and-forty-nine small airport towers were slated to close in mid June, but all have been spared by Friday's announcement. They will all remain open at least through September 30th which is the end of the federal budget year.
