Republican Party Unity Dinner Held in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Area Republicans running in several Stateline races gather in Rockford to discuss their goals for the November Election.

Candidates for Winnebago County Board, along with State's Attorney Candidate Glen Weber, and Congressman Bobby Schilling and Adam Kinzinger met for a Unity Dinner at Maria's Restaurant. The dinner was a way to come together after some divisive primary elections. Congressman Schilling told the group, even though he's not from the Stateline, his track record in Congress will benefit our area.

"I've done a lot of things already in the last year and a half by working with Democrats in Washington, DC. You know we've got pieces of legislation passed that they've been trying to get done for 10 years, we got done in 5 months so the unity message is the key thing," Congressman Schilling said.

The 17th Congressional District was re-drawn after Illinois lost a seat in the United States House.
