RVC Police Chief Running for Ogle County Sheriff


OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- Joe Drought has been the Chief of the Rock Valley College Police Department for nearly 17 years and now he has a new job in mind.

"I officially announce my candidacy for the office of Ogle County Sheriff," Drought said.

Drought made the announcement Tuesday afternoon in front of the Ogle County Court House. Drought says his family has deep roots in the community and that's why he wants to run for Sheriff. Drought's career in law enforcement started 31 years ago in the Army and since then he's been an Ogle County Deputy and now Police Chief at RVC.

"There just seems to be some work that needs to be done down here and I think I the experience and the knowledge to come down here to do what needs done," Drought said.

Rochelle Police Officer Brian Van Vickle is also running for Ogle County Sheriff. The primary election for is set for March 18, 2014.
