ILLINOIS (WIFR) – Just southwest from our area, the state had an extra special visitor. President Obama stopped by Knox College in Galesburg for the first, in a series of speeches on the Economy.
Today the President accused Washington of taking its eye off the ball and getting distracted from what matters most to Americans. He says he wants to refocus debate on pocketbook concerns instead of what he calls “phony scandals”. Today’s speech included no new policy initiatives but the President promised to fight for the middle class.
"The trend of a winner take all economy, where a few are doing better and better and better, while everyone else just treads water, those trends have been made worse by the recession."
Knox College was the site of his first major economic address as a U.S. senator eight years ago.
