CHICAGO (WIFR) -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has trailed challenger Bruce Rauner in virtually every poll taken this year, but the latest poll taken by the Garen Young Research Group shows Rauner's lead within the statistical margin of error.
So as we sit just 71 days before the election both candidates welcomed national political heavyweights to the Land of Lincoln on Monday.
Vice President Joe Biden was in Illinois for a minimum wage round table and also some fundraising. Meantime, New Jersey governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate Chris Christie makes a return trip to Illinois. Giving a pep talk to Rauner campaign workers.
Christie chairs the Republican Governor's Association which has already donated $2.5 million to the Rauner Campaign.
