ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford’s mayor will stay in office for his third term, while the City Council he works with will be made up of seven new faces.
Seven new Aldermen will be sworn in on May 6th. Six of the 14 are women. The balance of power remains the same with seven democrats, six republicans and one independent.
Returning 7th Ward Alderman Ann Thompson Kelly says that while the council is losing valuable knowledgeable members, she’s positive about the energy and new ideas that will come from the new group.
