Mental Health Facility Bill Passes IL Senate

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Those suffering from mental health issues in the Stateline could soon be seeing an extra boost.

It's part of a busy day in Springfield for State Senator Steve Stadelman. A plan introduced by Stadelman passed through the senate. It allows the state to sell closed buildings, like the Singer Mental Health Facility in Rockford and then use that money to fund mental health services in the area.

Another Stadelman sponsored bill also passed the senate Thursday one that allows the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to give safety and security grants to Illinois schools. Both measures now go to the house.
