ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Bringing life back to the local housing market was the goal of a town hall meeting today.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger was in Rockford Thursday afternoon meeting with members of the Rockford Area Association of Realtors. The group expects a surge in short-sales and foreclosures. Kinzinger says legislation is just one part to help the housing crisis but it won't fix everything.
"The biggest driver to that is not necessarily going to be to new legislation out of Washington, it's going to be a better economy and getting people back to work. When folks have jobs and they have job security, that's another key to this they are going to start investing in housing again," Kinzinger said.
Congressman Kinzinger says if re-elected... One of his main priorities is to bring manufacturing jobs back to the Stateline. Right now, Knzinger is running unopposed in Illinois' 16th congressional district.
