ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Local business owners say there are a lot of job openings in the manufacturing industry, but there's just one problem. People just don't have the right skills or training to fill the positions.
Congressman Adam Kinzigner was in town on Thursday hosting a manufacturing roundtable with local business and education leaders at Rock Valley College.
They talked about ways to improve the manufacturing climate and boost workforce training. Kinzinger says Rockford has a lot of assets to bring more jobs to the Stateline.
"Let's talk about the positive story of Rockford. This is the 5th largest aero space manufacturing.. we have the Rockford Airport and great transportation so to get that message out .. I mean when Boeing even looked for us as a finalist that's a huge deal.. get that message out know the assets that we have and people take interest and take notice," Kinzinger said.
