ILLINOIS (WIFR) -- Illinois comptroller Judy Baar Topinka says the fiscal cliff could cost the state a billion dollars in economic impact. Topinka describes the consequences as "devastating."
“Places like Rockford are really going to take a hit because there will not be any unemployment compensation. People don't have jobs in Rockford, where are they going to go and at the same time they are expected to pay taxes," said Topinka.
We will monitor negotiations throughout the weekend.
