Ernest Wins Republican Vote for Boone County Sheriff

BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- Dave Ernest, who's a deputy chief with the Belvidere Police Department, takes the win on the republican ticket with 79 percent of the vote.

He faced Phil Beu in the primary, who worked in the sheriff's department for 32 years. However most of the officers with the sheriff's department publicly supported Ernest in this election.

"I think that says a lot. They know what goes on up at that building, they know what they want and it's all about working together, that team work. I think that's what they're looking for, that's what I'm looking for, I'm extremely excited for the future of Boone County," said Ernest.

No democrats are currently running for Boone County Sheriff.
