ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A series of regional economic meetings kicked off Monday in Rockford.
Democratic Congresswoman Cheri Bustos was in town for the "Partnering for Illinois' Economic Future''. The program allows Stateliners to sound off on the local economy and job market. All of the issues brought up at Mondays meeting will then be the main topics at an economic summit later this Fall, where local political, business and education leaders will sit down to come up with a plan to boost the economy.
"When I travel around to all of the counties, including Winnebago, Stephenson. I hear the number one make sure when you went to Washington that you hear us and your our voice and that you work to find common sense solutions and above all else focus on job creation and the economy and that's what were here to do," Bustos said.
Congresswoman Bustos will hold two more economic meetings later this week. One in Peoria, the other, in the Quad Cities.
