Wisconsin Dems Pitch Tax Credits for Companies, Farmers

(AP) -- Democrats who control Wisconsin's Legislature are expected to push for a package of tax credits for economic development projects, dairy farmers, manufacturers and food processing plants.

The Legislature's budget committee on Wednesday will consider several bills authored by Assembly Democrats to stimulate the economy and reward investment in targeted industries.

The measures include an extension of a tax credit for dairy farmers who modernize or expand their operations and a new loan program to help manufacturers invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Another would expand a program run by the Department of Commerce that gives tax credits to businesses that start, relocate or expand in certain areas.
