A coalition of reform groups is trying to build support for campaign contribution limits by connecting angry voters with their lawmakers.
The group CHANGE Illinois has set up a toll-free number. Callers will be connected to their local legislators so they can talk about cleaning up state government.
Organizers hope callers will speak out in favor of limiting the size of contributions to political campaigns. Right now, Illinois politicians can take as much money as they want from interest groups and allies.
The group says lawmakers should cap political donations at $2,400 per election, the same limit used in upcoming federal elections.
