Illinois senior senator has called on the state's junior senator to resign.
Dick Durbin said he spoke to Roland Burris earlier today to discuss the allegations surrounding Illinois newest senator. Burris is facing calls for his resignation after he admitted trying to raise money for the man who appointed him. Disgraced former Governor Rod Blagojevich.
"I told him that under the circumstances, I would consider resigning, if I were in his shoes. He said he would not resign. That was his conclusion. And so at this point I suggested to him that he has to do everything in his power to bring all the facts out as completely as possible. It's now up to Senator Burris to deal with the facts and challenges before him," said Durbin.
Dick Durbin says he'll continue to work with Burris and the two will find ways to cooperate for the good of Illinois.
