Illinois House Republicans are demanding more information about when U.S. Sen. Roland Burris asked Democrats to amend testimony he gave about how he got his job.
House Minority Leader Tom Cross and Rep. Jim Durkin sent a letter Wednesday to Democrats asking for documents detailing Burris' contact with the impeachment committee.
An affidavit Burris sent the committee -- released last weekend -- indicated he had more contact with aides to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich before his appointment to a vacant Senate seat than he told the committee on Jan. 8.
Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie led the committee that impeached Blagojevich, and she says she just saw the affidavit early last week and had no intention of hiding it from Republicans.
Cross and Durkin say delaying an explanation casts doubt on the integrity of the process that impeached Blagojevich and removed him from office.
