Sen. Roland Burris says a newly released affidavit about his contact with the brother of ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich was voluntary and not the result of contact from federal agents investigating the former governor.
He says any suggestion otherwise is "absolutely, positively not true."
Burris also insists the Feb. 4 affidavit doesn't go back on previous sworn statements to lawmakers who recommended Blagojevich's impeachment.
Burris spoke to reporters briefly Monday. He didn't take questions.
The affidavit released over the weekend contradicts Burris statements to the committee regarding his contact with Blagojevich's brother and other advisers about the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.
The discrepancy could mean he perjured himself.
