Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is keeping up a busy public schedule, zipping across the state.
The Democrat who last week replaced the ousted Rod Blagojevich has a stop in the southwestern Illinois community of Collinsville on his schedule. He's slated to honor people who helped save a basketball referee last month.
Quinn also plans to head to Carbondale later in the day to meet with Southern Illinois University President Glenn Poshard and legislators from that area.
Quinn then will end the day in Chicago to honor Tammy Duckworth. She's the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs chief who President Barack Obama has nominated as an assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
