And in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning, he said the two never talked about Ayers' anti-war activities, with Obama never even asking about them.

Ayers became an issue in the campaign when Republican presidential John Mccain's campaign raised questions about Obama's relationship with the founder of a group that carried out bombings at the Pentagon and the Capitol.

Ayers disputed the contention that in the new forward of a paperback edition of his 2001 memoir that he is describing he and Obama as family friends. He says that was simply how they were characterized in the blogosphere.
