No major problems have been reported to area election officials. One minor problem in Winnebago County involved the markers used to fill in ballots. There has been some bleed-through to the other side. However, voters tell 23 News that when these are noted, the problem ballot is tossed out and a new ballot is issued. The problem markers are also thrown away.
A record turnout is possible with more than 7.7 million voters registered in Illinois. A record has been established for the number of early voters. About 10% or 877,000 people voters before today.
Polls throughout Illinois will remian open until 7 p.m. In Wisconsin polls will be open until 8 p.m.
