Beloit Daily News Endorses McCain

BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- The Beloit Daily News is endorsing John McCain for president, saying the Republican is a centrist with the experience needed to lead the country.

In an editorial published Wednesday, the Daily News says people are crying out for change, but not the type Democrat Barack Obama is touting.

The paper says Obama has run a brilliant campaign, but McCain is more tested and has impeccable national security credentials. It calls Obama "an ideal candidate for the shallowness of our modern world."

The paper says when it comes to substance, McCain leaves Obama in the dust.

The paper also notes McCain has taken on the Republican establishment and worked with Democrats, including Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold, on a number of issues.
