Volunteers Canvass for Candidates

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Volunteers on both sides of the aisle spent the weekend going door to door on behalf of their candidates.

Brian McCulliss, wearing his Republican red, canvassed a west side Madison neighborhood Sunday, asking homeowners which way they were leaning in the presidential election. McCulliss planned to hit 250 homes.

A few streets away, Meg Wise worked the pavement in her Democratic blue. She provided information on early voting to residents. Wise says she takes a softer approach to canvassing, preferring not to ask people outright about their decisions.

Campaign officials say thousands of volunteers across the state are canvassing and will shift into a "get out the vote" mode in a few days.
