McCain, Palin Appeal to Thousands of GOP Faithful

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- John McCain started his Thursday town hall meeting in Waukesha by saying that he must win Wisconsin on Election Day.

He's got some catching up to do based on the latest polls. One released yesterday showed McCain trailing his Democratic opponent Barack Obama by 10 points.

McCain says he visited former University of Wisconsin football player Joe Thomas last night. Thomas now plays for the Cleveland Browns.

McCain and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke to about 4,000 people at a Waukesha sports complex.

McCain also planned solo stops in Mosinee later Thursday and in La Crosse on Friday.
