Obama Leaves Trinity United

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- Barack Obama says he will find another church for his family after resigning from Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ.

Obama resigned his membership in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. More recent fiery remarks made at the church by visiting priest Father Michael Pfleger reignited the controversy.

Obama told a news conference in South Dakota this evening that it was "with some sadness" that he resigned his 20-year membership.

Messages left for a church spokeswoman were not immediately returned today.

The news of Obama's resignation broke while most of the political attention was focused on the Democratic National Committee's struggle to seat delegates from Florida and Michigan.
