President’s 8th News Conference Focuses on Economy

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The President touch on several topics but his main focus was the economy.

The White House wanted to use today's news conference to help the president sell his economic plan to a skeptical public. He spent most of the week on the road explaining his ideas, but like the public republicans are not convinced.

They say the problem is too much spending and that white house proposals would mean tax hikes in the middle of a recession. Republicans want to freeze tax rates for 2-years and cut government spending back to 2008 levels the President turned that down.

"The policies we have put in place moved us in the right direction, the policies the republicans are offering are the same ones that got us into this mess." said President Obama.

The president will make a trip to Madison later this month for one of four rallies in swing states leading up to the November elections.

It is just funny how so many people can be so judgemental of the president and always saying negative things but I would like to see them try to do his job for one day and see how long they can last ha
