ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin spent time in the Stateline stumping for Senate Candidate Alexi Giannoulias.
He also tried to sell three major democratic initiatives currently being argued by the president, changing the tax code to prevent incentives for shipping jobs overseas, extending unemployment benefits and ending the bush tax cuts for the top two percent of wage earners.
Durbin and the democrats are being met with republican opposition in all three areas.
“When you vote against all those elements, I have to ask the most basic question on the other side, well what's your idea, what’s your plan. They don't have one. They only thing they say is we want to give tax cuts to the wealthiest people in America.” said Durbin.
Republican leaders say they plan to release its economic plan later this week.
