ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police apprehended an alleged armed robber after an investigation that began late last month.
On September 27, police responded to the 100 block of N. 1st Street, where a victim said they were approached by someone on an orange, BMX style bicycle. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's belongings.
After police conducted a follow-up investigation, charges and an arrest warrant were brought against 17-year old Robert J. Phinnessee of Rockford for Armed Robbery.
Phinnessee was taken into custody without incident in the 1000 block of School Street on September 30th shortly after 10:00pm.
Phinnessee is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
