Online Prisoner Database Almost Ready

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- By the end of the month we'll be able to search for inmates online. The Winnebago County Sheriff is getting ready to roll out a brand new database and 23 News got a sneak peak.

We first told you about the site last month. It'll be updated in real time and will feature information on every inmate. Once someone is booked into jail a mugshot will be posted on the site. Additionally, the site will also contain bail information and what the person is charged with.

You can even sign up to get an email when someone is released from jail. The website will be available to the public for free in the next couple of weeks.

Its a pointless task to put pictures up. Get it. It takes more wasted resources. Get it. Got it yet Phyllis. You must work for the city. Get it.

This is an excellent idea. Now we can see the criminals around us just like the sex offenders. This was long overdue.

See the criminals????? Have you not taken a close look at the entire school board, city administration and the people in charge of utilities in this town. Sad you would rather look at a j-walker, a drug dealer, a robber or a murderer you don't even know.

This will be an ongoing waste of tax payer dollars. The system is new so there will be bugs. The system requires update on a daily basis at a minimum. These are just a few of the MANY cost in $$$ and manpower. that surround this. I would rather have bodies on the streets to protect and serve or some lights back please.

The publics right to know is based off of research. If a person is not capable without pictures then they can go work at McDonalds or Burger king where they have a picture on the register so illiterate America can function. More bodies on the street and lights back on please. That is all.
