Katie Stockton/Baby Crystal Case Update: Skeletons in Trunk Can't be Used as Evidence

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Big news in the Baby Crystal case today: as you may remember, Katie Stockton is accused of leaving her infant daughter to freeze to death on the side of the road. Now a judge says two other infant skeletons which were found in the trunk of her car are not admissible as evidence.

Today a judge ruled two other infant skeletons, which were found in the trunk of her car, and born after baby crystal are not admissible as evidence because they might influence the jury. Prosecutors haven't been able to bring charges for the other two children because there's not enough evidence to prove the babies were born alive.

Prosecutors will be able to tell a jury Stockton had been pregnant before and hid the pregnancy from her friends and family. They'll have to prove Baby Crystal was born alive and Stockton intended to kill her. So far Stockton has never admitted she's the baby's mother, but prosecutors say they have DNA evidence.

Today defense attorneys argued that calling the infant "Baby Crystal or Crystal Doe" is inflammatory because the name crystal refers to the baby being frozen, but the judge said he doesn't see any problem with the name.

Question: What about a jury? How in the world will they be able to find an impartial jury at this point?

Answer: They actually talked about that today in court. The concern is that when people say what they know about the case other potential jurors will hear and the whole jury pool will get tainted.
So it sounds like they will interview potential jurors one on one when they finally get to it. Today the August trial date was pushed back indefinitely.

Casey Anthony all over again! What is the matter with these overpaid judges not allowing the babies in the trunk as evidence? Are these judges sick in the head?

And here lays the problem. The Laws. It is not the polices fault. Or the Judges fault. It is the rediculous laws that allow people such as her to slip through the loopholes. People who have no intention of following the laws, will always find ways to get through the loop holes.

maybe she just found those dead babies on the side of the road and forgot she had them in the trunk. i'm sure there is a good explanation. what a waste of time this is you can't even get this case to trial. not surprised given the track record of local prosecutors and idiocy of local judges how many murderers are gonna go free this year? i suggest an "accidental" fire in her cell

Of course the skeletons would influence the jury. That's the point. They have proof in her car that she has killed/neglected/whatever other babies and that is not admisable. I think the judge is a quack. What kind of woman is she and will she get off because of this?

Who was the judge? Any jury should be allowed to know about the other 2 skeletons--it is the way she deals with her pregnancies!! She is the perfect candidate for sterilization, if ever there was one. There is something definitely WRONG with her. She keeps getting pregnant and killing her infants. She needs to be s-t-o-p-p-e-d.

Born alive or not, those babies are human beings and should have been laid to rest like any other person. Instead they were discarded like trash and hidden in a trunk! Katie is nothing more than a heartless monster and I hope she is prepared for her sentence when she faces true judgement!

I know the law is the law, but she is an accused serial killer. I know innocent until proven guilty, but really? How many bodies do we need?
