Grinch Stealing Holiday Lawn Decorations

Betty Bloom has been decorating her house for Christmas for the last 25 years. The most expensive decorations, an entire inflatable winter wonderland, were stolen Saturday night.

"We had a reindeer. A Santa Claus. A sleigh. A penguin that pops up and down," said Belinda Bennett, Bloom's daughter.

Saturday at 10pm they noticed almost all of the decorations had been pulled out of the ground. Bloom says she's probably out $250.

"I'm on a fixed income so I've got to hang out to whatever I have you, know?" she said. Next year she plans to only hang lights...or put the inflatable decorations on the roof.

Rockford Police say thefts like this one are common during the holidays. Bloom says she thinks people are taking the stolen lawn ornaments to local bars to sell them.
